I'm a PhD student in the Robot Learning Lab, supervised by Jan Peters and within the Empirical Inference Department of Bernhard Schölkopf.
In January 2019, I completed my Master's thesis with Jan Peters and Dieter Büchler on applying Reinforcement Learning to learn playing table tennis with a muscle based robot arm in simulation.
Recently, we were also able to apply a similar approach to learn returning balls with the real muscle based robot arm.
For the future of my PhD, I want to work towards Reinforcement Learning methods that help real robots learn increasingly complex and general skills.
Our goal is to understand the principles of Perception, Action and Learning in autonomous systems that successfully interact with complex environments and to use this understanding to design future systems
